Memorial Day Thunderstorms

One of the best parts of this weekend was getting to enjoy Memorial Day with Bruce.  Since he works every day, it was nice that he had Monday off and he chose to spend it with me.  The day started off great, Bruce and I went to HEB to pick up food for lunch and the ingredients for mojitos, since Mondays are Bachelorette nights!!! That means alcoholic drinks, chips and guacamole, and spending time with my favorite people.  This month has been plagued by rain, and yesterday was no exception.  Around 5pm, the clouds started rolling in, and we prepared for a massive storm.
Kelly, my roommate and best friend, is not a fan of storms, ever since I first met her, she has hated thunderstorms.  Since it was looking bad outside, we used this as an opportunity to start making the drinks.  I tried making mojitos for the first time, and they didn't turn out too bad!  Some adjustments need to be made, and I think I'll be trying it again in the near future.

The largest part of the storm had passed by 8pm, and I was able to take this awesome photo of my neighborhood.  The entire sky was orange, and it made everything in sight orange as well.  Fun fact: no filter was used on that photo.  It was pretty impressive how beautiful everything looked outside.

We went back inside to watch the Bachelorette, and a smaller system passed through.  Duke was keeping us all safe by making sure no one would come by without us being alerted.  Somehow I was able to get this shot of duke during a burst of lightning outside.  Overall, it was a great day with some pretty neat people, and I hope everyone else had an awesome weekend as well!
